Fate sits in the center of Rockwall County on I-30 and was a village of a few hundred people as recently as 2000; nearly all of its current housing is master-planned subdivision product built since the mid-2000s, so yards are new-construction lots with young trees and builder-graded drainage. Rockwall County is the smallest county in Texas by area, and Fate’s growth has run east along I-30 rather than outward onto acreage.
