The difference between a room you use in August and one you do not is insulated glass, an insulated roof and its own conditioning. The rooms in these photos have glass walls under a solid roof, stick-built or insulated aluminum, and bring far more daylight into the house than a conventional addition. The all-season versions are fully insulated and tied into heating and cooling, so they stay comfortable in a January cold snap as well as in July. Compare the two on the sunrooms and enclosures page before deciding which one to build.

Planning notes

Before You Add a Sunroom

  • Decide how you’ll use it in August. A room you use year-round needs insulated glass, an insulated roof and its own heating and cooling.
  • Choose the build. Rooms are stick-built or insulated aluminum under a solid roof. A glass roof makes it a solarium, which we build on request.
  • Compare the two types. A standard sunroom and a fully insulated all-season room are priced and built differently; the sunrooms and enclosures page compares them side by side.

Every project starts with a free design visit to measure, talk through options and give a firm price. A designer calls within one business day.
